![]() Anna O’DonnellĪnna is the 11-year-old daughter of a devoutly Roman Catholic family. For Lib, it is simply a matter of faith that observation will divulge the truth behind this impossible miracle. All she really has to do is bide her time until she has the evidence to prove the girl has been getting food from somewhere. Lib brings the rational scientific skepticism of her training in the irrefutable workings of the human body into an atmosphere ruled by pure faith that with God’s blessing all things are possible. The prepubescent daughter of a local family has supposedly managed to survive for four months without eating a single morsel of food. The case is beyond unusual it is downright strange. That reassignment takes her to a rural village that is barely more than a cluster of buildings. That formality is about to end, however, as she has agreed to take on a most unusual temporary reassignment. ![]() Wright within the confines of the hospital. The stranger also tells them of a working train, "right here in Michigan," that will take them to the U.P. Their lives change when a stranger claiming to be a census taker leaves them with a list of survivors that, to Malorie's astonishment, includes her parents. Since becoming a mother, she has holed up with her son, Tom, and daughter, Olympia, in an abandoned library and one-time summer camp, living on the edge of her fear that one or both of her kids will take off their "fold" and meet a grisly fate. ![]() Ever since, Malorie has been on the run, her eyes tightly covered, somehow surviving any and all obstacles. Nearly 20 years ago, Malorie's hometown in Michigan's Upper Peninsula was visited by creatures that made people who merely glanced at them go mad-and in many cases kill themselves. In this sequel to the post-apocalyptic Bird Box (2014), perpetually blindfolded, scared-hopeless mom Malorie must contend with her now-teenage son's perilous desire for freedom. ![]() ![]() The relief of seeing Fox practically bowled her over, and she started to call out a greeting, until she realized the fisherman’s gravitational-pull eyes were honing in on Sergei, setting off a tectonic shift of plates in his cheeks. On top of everything else, he had to have the most dangerous job in the United States, the knowledge of fear and nature and consequences in his sea-blue eyes. God, if you’re listening? But instead he looked like a troublemaker angel that got booted out of heaven, all tall and well-built and resilient and capable-looking. With that pretty-boy face, he really should have been soft. Without turning around, she knew every straight woman had her face pressed up against the windows of the bus, watching the maestro of feminine wetness cross the road, his dark blond hair blowing around in the wind, the lower half of his face covered in unruly, unshaped stubble, darker than the hair on his head. Perhaps because his identity had been whittled down to words on a screen, she’d forgotten that he commanded attention like a grand finale of fireworks in the night sky. Probably because she’d communicated with this man every day for six-no, nearly seven-months now, but never heard his voice. Her mind made a scratchy humming sound, like the one a record makes in between songs. Hannah tore her wistful eyes off the man she’d been crushing on for two years, and saw Fox crossing the parking lot in their direction, his striking face a mask of alarm. ![]() ![]() Read an exclusive excerpt of Hook, Line, and Sinker below!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In 1914, however, he married Florence Dugdale, a close friend for several years. When the first hierarchical systems evolved 5000 years ago, the gap between the rulers and the ruled had increased.
